The story of Terrazas is one of visionaries and adventurers who made bold decisions at a time before the potential of Argentina was understood. This territory is now well-known, but the first House ever to explore the possibility of making great wines in Argentina was Moët & Chandon back in the 1950s.
A beautiful historical building located in Perdriel, built in the 19th century by the Spanish immigrant Sotero Arizo, had been purchased by Bodega Chandon in the 1980s but never used. Almost as if it had been waiting for this moment, this very special building was then refurbished in 1998 and has been the winery of Terrazas de los Andes since 1999.
The technical team understood along the way that different grapes needed specific conditions to achieve their best varietal expression. Terrazas is now the winery known for its obsession with finding the best altitude for the best varietal expression, which redefined winemaking in Argentina.
